It’s a historic day and one that’s sure to provide many opportunities for family unity. Fortunately, Jill (Ohio University ‘93) and Mark (Miami University ‘88) are unified as Buckeye fans so there won’t be any hard feelings over the thrasing that OU is about to take.
Too bad Miami doesn’t appear to have one of their better teams this year because it looks like That Team From Up North is weak.
Both games are on TV and the kids are being banished to their rooms for the next 3 hours. Updates provided throughout, although I don’t think I’ll be able to post as fast as Ohio State scores.
FIRST QUARTER UPDATE:
Ohio State 3 – Ohio University 0: Ohio State started off very sluggish but I don’t think OU will be able to keep up the pace – they smoke and drink too much in Athens to have any stamina.
Miami 0 – Michigan 10: Looks like Michigan came in angry after their opening week loss to Utah.
HALFTIME UPDATE:
Ohio State 6 – Ohio University 7: Ohio State looks like crap ! The guys from OU must have smoked A LOT of weed before the game.
Miami 3 – Michigan 10: Miami is hanging tough. If they stop dropping passes they might make a game of it in the second half.
THIRD QUARTER UPDATE:
Ohio State 12 – Ohio University 14: Looks like Ohio State is waking up a little but still a very, very poor effort. OU’s Quarterback is named Boo — that seems about right.
Miami 6 – Michigan 10: Still dropping passes but hanging in there.
POST GAME SUMMARY:
Ohio State 26 – Ohio University 14
Miami 6 – Michigan 16
Well, looks like the sun will indeed come up in the East again tomorrow. Very sloppy games but good showings by both MAC schools against the semi-professionals from the Big 11. You just knew this would catch up with Ohio University eventually today. I’m sure the clean-cut kids from Oxford will be in the library bright and early tomorrow (after Church, of course).
At the end of the game the Michigan fans were celebrating like they just won the Rose Bowl — going to be a very long year for That Team From Up North. In case anyone wants to go to a game the directions are: go North until you smell it then East until you step in it. Strangely, the directions are the same if you want to go to Athens.
If they play anything like this next week Ohio State will get spanked against USC.
