Rule #1 of protesting is…

September 16, 2008

… make sure that the person you’re protesting is actually there to hear you.

I don’t know a lot about protesting, I went to Miami where you wear your Dockers and join the Young Republicans club like you’re told, so it’s not surprising that when they finally give it a try they screw it up.

Doesn’t the young generation understand.  You don’t need to protest something that you can just choose to sleep through.

Dilbert on the Economy

September 16, 2008

If you’ve ever worked for a large company it’s hard to imagine you wouldn’t find Dilbert funny.  The writer of Dilbert, Scott Adams, has a blog where he has a lot of both funny and observant commentary on politics, current events and pop culture.

Recently he funded a survey of professional economists to try and determine which candidate would be best for the US economy.   You can read the summary here on CNN and find more details at the Dilbert blog.

If you’ve ever tried to understand where the a candidate stands on a complex issue you know it’s maddening.  I mean really stands, not just the soundbites and generalities.  More importantly trying to understand what the impacts of their actions will be.  The economy is a perfect example because it’s so complicated and has so many inter-dependencies.

The part I found most interesting was that Economists rated Education and Energy as two of top four most important economic priorities.  Hmmm….maybe this guy is on to something.
